TESTING, TESTING…SOUND SYSTEMS ARE GO : A recent memory: On the road in Europe, Bordeaux to be exact. Had been out for lunch with the tour party and walked through the city centre to find Mancuso (cafemancuso.com) – which houses both a record store and an audiophile bar. It’s extremely cool and I think every city needs one. Fast forward to a recent trip to Auckland and the chance to play records on the bespoke Tub’s Audio system at Kemuri (kemurihifi.com) – which is run by an old friend from Wellington’s glory days. It too is dope. Every city needs one. Fast, fast forward again to last weekend when the spring sunshine descended on my backyard… after these recent inspirational audio experiences I thought I should finally complete and tune up my own boutique sound system (which I call High Rotation) that I’ve been working away at for about a year. Happy to report it sounds bloody great and I gave the neighbourhood a good blast. Fast, fast, fast forward to yesterday and day 1 of rehearsals for the upcoming Slo Mo Album Tour shows… and the test pressing for vinyl release of the album has just arrived. Fitchie has it playing loud and proud through the studio system. Smiles all round. We’ll be playing that exact copy of the new record and other deep vinyl gems out in some cool spots over the next few weeks – keep your eyes on the socials for drop-the-needle details.
